Your heart is not deceitful.
She cradles your inner wisdom
with infinite tenderness.
She makes space for the holy,
the ineffable.

Yet, you have been taught by this world
that you must protect her from others,
that the things you hold most dear
are the very things
you should keep hidden.

This simply is not true.

So find a string (any string will do)
and tie one end to your heart
and the other to your feet.

When you step out into the world,
don’t walk back
to all the places you’ve been.
Stand very still and wait to feel
her gentle tug.

Walk only where your beating heart
directs your steps.
